ITPC-0601 Provide enrolled students access to all their outstanding education loans  Link to proposal

Sponsors: Kiely Fletcher, Michelle Trame, Carolyn Schloemann

Total hours: 425 | System Office IT hours: 425 | Full Cost: $ 24,225 |Requested ITPC Funds: $0

The Illinois General Assembly signed into law a program January 2019 which requires public universities to provide enrolled students and parents, with information regarding all their outstanding education loans. Schools must be prepared to share loan information by the end of the 2019-2020 academic year.

This project will provide debt information to enrolled students and parents including total amount borrowed (federal, other and private loans), percentage of federal limit borrowed, and estimated payoff information (monthly payment, total payments, interest paid and cumulative payment) either via Banner self-service or a standalone report.

Expected benefits: Meet the legislative requirement | Ability for enrolled students and parents to view their level of debt | Give students an idea of how much and how long they can expect to pay back their loans

ITPC-0602  JMLS Acquisition Phase Two Data Migration and Acquisition Requirements Link to proposal

Sponsors: Susan Poser, Kelly Block, Stephanie Dable, Cynthia Herrera-Lindstrom

Total hours: 7,250 |System Office IT hours: 7,250 |Full Cost: $413,250 |Requested ITPC Funds: $0

This project will focus on the requirements to bring JMLS data into the University’s designated systems as part of the transaction agreement for the JMLS acquisition. All student academic history data will be migrated from JMLS’s existing Colleague system to Banner. There will be crosswalks and data mapping that will be required to prepare for the migration of data. Extensive testing and data cleanup is expected throughout the data migration. It is anticipated that the data migration from Colleague will be phased into multiple, focused migrations.

AITS will also continue to assist UIC with additional post day one tasks, access provisioning to enterprise applications, potential report creations or modifications, and additional needs as part of the overall acquisition of JMLS.

Expected Benefits: Careful analysis and preparation to migrate the required data ensures accurate and complete data will be migrated and maintained |Utilizing experts from AITS will help reduce overall resource hours for this data migration due to their experience with data migrations into Banner.

This project will upgrade all Oracle databases, other than Banner databases, apps databases & application manager (AppWorx) databases, to 19c due to premium support for our current version, 12.2.0.1, ending in November 2020. We must upgrade before that time in order to remain supported by the vendor.

Expected benefits: Required change to core mission‐critical system infrastructure | Maintains stable environment for critical business processes

Total hours: 3,233 | System Office IT hours: 3,233 |Full Cost: $184,281 |Requested ITPC Funds: $184,281

This project will upgrade the Banner databases, apps databases & application manager (AppWorx) databases. We must upgrade before that time in order to remain supported by the vendor.

In addition, this project will include upgrading any Banner releases that are available at the time of the Oracle upgrade. Upgrading Banner and keeping it current with the most recent releases will allow the University to meet regulatory changes in a timely manner and keep current with the most up-to-date patches & enhancements of our administrative systems’ software.
