FROM PRESIDENT JIM MOORE

Despite the extended summer we are having in the heartland, the seasons are indeed changing and fall is officially here. The academic calendar is in full swing, and for those of us in advancement, there is certainly a sense of anticipation and excitement as we approach the launch of the largest philanthropic endeavor undertaken by the University of Illinois System.

Over the next thirty days, we will introduce three focused campaigns that will individually and collectively transform our three universities and the University of Illinois System. By the time we gather for the Annual Meeting, on October 12, we will have launched the Springfield campaign, and Urbana will introduce its campaign goals and priorities the following day, October 13. Chicago will announce its largest and most ambitious campaign goal on October 28.

Our advancement team and university leaders are excited to enter this important public phase of our three campaigns. The University of Illinois continues to be a source of new knowledge, innovative solutions, and life changing opportunities. All three campaigns will invite our donors to partner with us to ensure the University of Illinois remains a powerful and impactful system of three extraordinary universities.

One System. Powered by Three Universities. Fueled by Millions of Individuals. Making Unimaginable Impact on the World…Step Back and Take Notice. Because It’s Altogether Extraordinary.

Yes, the excitement is building and the above statement is part of our new messaging platform that will be revealed at our upcoming 82nd Annual Meeting. I hope you are planning to attend. This year’s program is certainly going to be Altogether Extraordinary.

Thank you again for all you do and remember to stay connected.

Best,

Jim

FROM CHAIR GREG LYKINS

What an exciting time of year to be involved with the amazing University of Illinois System. As Jim mentioned, October is an eventful month…marking our 82nd Annual Meeting, three University of Illinois campaign launches, and so much more at each of our universities. I have greatly enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to serve in the role of Foundation Board Chair for the last two years. My appreciation and affection for this University has indeed grown during this time due—in a significant part—to my recognition and admiration of the quality and generosity of each of your commitments to the University of Illinois. I sincerely hope your commitment to the advancement of these universities brings you that same enjoyment and satisfaction.

I am also very excited about the strong and experienced leadership that incoming Chair Alan Feldman is bringing to the Foundation. His longstanding connection to and passion for the advancement of the University of Illinois will be very beneficial to the System.

I will continue my “evangelism” for this great institution and assist in any way possible. It has indeed been an honor to serve in this position, and I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming Board meeting and campaign events!

Greg
